Businesses are constantly faced with decisions about how to make new technology work best for them. CRU Solutions has advised Columbia Chemical in this area since 2000.

CRU Solutions was initially engaged to advise the company during their transition from independent, stand-alone computers to a server and network. Based on their business needs, CRU recommended the network configuration and designed, produced and installed the custom hardware.

A CRU T-1 created high-speed, reliable connectivity for the growing company. CRU became the “go to” provider for hardware needed to run the company’s business systems. “We went to CRU because of the positive relationship we had built with them over the years,” says Kevin Reilley, Vice President, Operations.

CRU became a resource once again in 2007, when Columbia Chemical began planning a move to new headquarters. The new, 44,000 square-foot facility would combine staff from two locations and double the company’s space.

Working with the company’s in-house information technology team and collaborating with phone, cable, and construction contractors, CRU became an integral part of the move. “Jim Kerr recommended the network wiring and a variety of hardware including switches and routers that would work with our new system and allow us to expand,” Kevin said. “Jim was also able to speak the language of our construction contractors to ensure a smooth transition during the move. We unplugged the servers in the old buildings, plugged in at the new building, and everything worked.”
